Mobility scooters

Scooters for range, not for the driveway.

A scooter is for distance. If the problem is standing up, or a hundred metres to the shops, this is the wrong category and we will say so.

Mobility scooters at Silvera

Scooters solve exactly one problem well: distance. Someone who can walk short distances but cannot manage a town centre, a garden centre or an airport gets an enormous amount of life back from one. Someone whose real difficulty is balance, or getting out of a chair, is better served by a rollator, and buying a scooter will not help them.

What we are reviewing

How to choose

The three things that decide it.

Boot test before anything else

The heaviest single piece is the number that matters, not the total weight. If the heaviest piece is 30 lb, somebody has to lift 30 lb, every time.

Range claims are measured in ideal conditions

Assume roughly two thirds of the published range on real ground, with a real rider, on a battery that is not new.

Three wheels or four

Three turns tighter and suits indoor and shop use. Four is more stable on camber and rough ground. Do not buy three wheels for outdoor use on slopes.
